How to Remove Wine Stains From Clothing

1.) Blot dry with a paper towel on both the front and back of stain. Note to self: Do not push hard because this will make the stain worse 2.) mix a small amount of laundry detergent (no bleach) with hydrogen peroxide in cold water and dunk the stain for one to two hours. 3.) If stain is still present, sprinkle kosher salt or baking soda over the stain and let sit for a few minutes. Wash away the salt with a damp cloth. 4.) A Recession Hits, but a Stronger US Dollar Means European Wine is Less Expensive

The current economic woes are bad and all, but check out how the US Dollar has strengthened against the Euro since the summer. Although the move has only made up some of the ground lost against the Euro over the last five years, that Mouton Rothschild should be roughly 30% less expensive than it was in July.

Should you serve red wine chilled?

Try serving your red wine 55 degrees as opposed to the usual 65 degree room temperture and u will not be dissapointed. I allways thought the rule of thumb was colder tempertures will only bring out the acidity and subtle flavors in red wine. A cooler serving temperture will make even the big warm weather red wines taste that much better.

Michael Bauer agrees with me.

Barahonda Monestrall 2005 from Yecla Spain: The New Value Wine at the Party

This guy is heavy on the smoke and spice, which I assume is from the grapes being from southern Spain. Monestrall is the same grape as Mouvedre and Yecla is one of Spain's new wine region. Five years ago the Spanish government was subsidizing grape produce… Continue

Sullivan's "Red Ink" 2004: A House Wine Worth Seeking Out

I met the winemaker about two months ago at a Napa Valley Tasting and was blown away with how down to earth he was versus the other corporate vintners stands. I tried his best stuff and was blown away.

The Red Ink house blend is the leftovers of his best fruit. At 2… Continue

Pay 120 Bucks for a Wine Glass. Um – No.

William Sonoma advertises Riedel’s for 120 bucks per glass. I am not sure if it is worth it. When I worked at Putnam Wine in upstate New York we consistently told customers to spend less on the glass and more on the wine. Think how many killer bottles u could buy for the price of one glass.

The Drumming Magnate and central figure for Zildjian likes his red wine big. "Argentinian Malbec, Big California Zin's, you name it". Now the question becomes, how do u store these big wines in the Puerto Rican tropical climate.

In Denver? It is worth checking out Wines of Wynkoop

Only store I have been to in the last two years with:

1.)Multiple bottles of Italian red wine from 1997 (though the shopkeeper told me they were “past their prime”. I love the honesty)

2.)As much Pinot Noir as Cabernet…

Wah Wah Wee Wah. Georgia (the country) Teliani Valley produces a nice Saperavi.

I never had a Saperavi wine (the grape). Almost cab like in color, structure and attitude. This guy impressed me with its length and strong red fruit. For nine bucks, I am gonna explore more wine from Georgia in the near future.

Chillin in Vail, CO: I hope u like Silver Oak

After being stuck in Vail, CO for an extra night I started perusing wine lists at all the restaurants.

The usual Cali reds were in full form: B.R. Cohn was offered every where as well as the slew of Mondavi’s and Beringer French grapes. Even the local pizza shop had both the Son

If you are Hanging out in Denver, do not go Wine Tasting at Tewsbury & Company Cigar Shop.

I am always down to hit-up the local wine tasting opportunities outside of San Francisco. After rounds of free cheese in Writer’s square in downtown Denver’s new 16th Street, I found myself in the local cigar shop to taste some local Colorado wines. Before I become negative on the experience, I have to give a quick positive shout out to Colorado wine.
